PARTIAL PROJECT LIST
ONGOING PROJECTS
Qatar Foundation
MPC has a three year contract to supply consultancy services to our client in the Middle East for a new SCADA system. This system will monitor all their facilities and is estimated to be 1 million points – one of the largest in the world.
District of Ucluelet
MPC has been awarded a design and build project for their new SCADA system to monitor 23 pump stations, 2 water treatment plants, and 2 reservoirs.
DEVELOPERS
Dockside Green
Dockside Green is the largest development in Victoria and is the first Platinum LEEDS project in Canada. The development has its own closed loop waste water treatment plant where the effluent is recycled for toilet use in the residences, the first WWTP in Victoria. MPC won the contract to design and build the control system, SCADA and instrumentation for this plant. MPC worked closely with Corix who has the contract to operate and maintain the facilities. Completion: July, 2008.
PRIVATE WATER UTILITY
City of White Rock
EPCOR – designed and installed the SCADA upgrade for the water system for the City of White Rock. The RTUs are SCADAPack and the HMI is iFix – Intellution. Completion: November 2007.
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
William Head Institution
MPC was a sub-consultant to Worley Parsons for the design of the new control system and SCADA for a wastewater treatment plant for William Head Institution in Metchosin, BC. Completion: September 2009.
PROJECTS COMPLETED FOR THE VICTORIA CAPITAL REGIONAL DISTRICT (CRD)
MPC has designed and built the MCC, ATS, controls and instrumentation for two new water booster pump stations for the CRD. This includes VFDs for the domestic pumps and 200hp fire pumps. These systems connect to the SCADA system and use Moscad RTUs.
MPC also designed and built a seismic shutdown system to detect earthquakes and prevent the draining of a reservoir. The system is connected to the SCADA system for alarming and recording of data. This was a design and build project.
We designed and built a chlorine shutdown system for the chlorination system at the Japan Gulch Treatment Plant. When a chlorine leak is detected, the system will close valves on the chlorine containers. The shutdown system is controlled through the SCADA system (SCADAPack RTU) for alarming and recording purposes. This was a design and build project.
MPC has engineered the connection of several pump stations to the CRD’s SCADA system for the Town of Sidneyand the District of Central Saanich. These pump stations use Flygt controllers to control the pumps and to interface to the CRD’s SCADA system (SCADAPack RTU).
OTHER MUNICIPALITIES
City of Abbotsford
MPC, with partner Glentel, designed and built an upgrade to their SCADA system over a one and a half year period. This included 80 sites and used the Citect SCADA/HMI, SCADAPack RTUs, Transnet MDS iNet radios and a high-speed radio backbone. Completed: 2007.
City of Colwood
Colwood has implemented a Flygt SCADA system that monitors and collects data from five sewage pump stations. It uses spread spectrum radio frequency to send the data to a central computer that records the data and sends alarms to pagers of the operators to let them know if there is a problem with one of the pump stations. As MPC is the Flygt Systems Integrator, we maintain the Flygt pump station controllers and the SCADA system for Colwood and presently we are adding two more pump stations to the system.
Cowichan Valley Regional District
MPC has installed the first portion of a SCADA system for the CVRD using ClearSCADA software. The District plans to implement a region wide SCADA system for their 40 water and wastewater stations. MPC has designed and built four stations which include a water chlorination station, septic field pump station, and two duplex sewage stations.
Regional District of Nanaimo
Upgrade of landfill flare controls and SCADA system. Completion: July 2012.
Town of Sidney
MPC designed and built the pump station control systems for the Town of Sidney. All of these control systems are connected to the CRD’s SCADA system.
District of Central Saanich
MPC has upgraded and converted 5 pump stations for Central Saanich to date. They plan to upgrade all their pump stations. MPC is in the process of connecting all their pump stations to the CRD’s SCADA system. We also designed and built a new kiosk/control panel for the Cultra St. pump station.
City of Regina
Designed and built the controls for a landfill flare system. Our design incorporated the first automatic relight flare controls.
PROJECTS COMPLETED FOR BC HYDRO
Turnkey project – designed and built six oil pressure monitoring systems for a 230kVolt transmission line. This system is interfaced to BC Hydro’s SCADA system.
PROJECTS FOR MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTATION (BURNABY)
MPC built 30 control panels for the Ministry of Transportation in Burnaby. These control panels are used to control traffic intersections throughout the province of BC.
OTHER PROJECTS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA
Diavik Diamond Mine
MPC supplied engineering services to SNC-Lavalin in Vancouver. We supplied personnel who spent 12 months in SNC-Lavalin’s Vancouver office providing detailed engineering design of the security system for the Diavik Diamond Mine project.
Eurocan Pulp and Paper
MPC supplied project management and engineering services for Eurocan Pulp and Paper in Kitimat. MPC had personnel on site for nine months working on various control system and fire alarm system projects.
Vancouver Island Health Authority
Victoria General Hospital Laundry – Upgrading the PLC control system (fifteen PLCs) using Allen Bradley SLC 515 and Rockwell Factory Talk with Historian all on an Ethernet network. Completion: 2011.
Vancouver Island Brewery
MPC provides Vancouver Island Brewery with engineering, troubleshooting, and maintenance of their instrumentation and control systems on an as needed basis.
INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS
Korea
MPC designed and commissioned the instrumentation and control system for a TNT plant with triple redundancy using a Yokogawa DCS.
China and Greece
We supplied instrumentation and control system/SCADA engineering design for two polyformaldehyde chemical plants for Science International.
Colombia
